Congrats to Blackcat. Apparently you are a great cat :-)
The avg age of a typical incoming MBA class in Stanford is 27 w/ 4 years of working experience (when the school starts). In the last 20 years, the avg. length of working experience before school has had slight increase. However, Stanford also welcomes applicants w/ less working experience. For example, each year there are a handful of students coming right out of college. The belief of the school is that the applicants themselves would have the best judgement on when being the best timing for them to pursue an MBA, if they ever feel that they need to have the MBA in the first place.
Also, there is no country specific quota/limit in the admission policy so the number of Chinese students admitted each year is determined by the size of Chinese applicant pool and more importantly the quality of the applicants. In class 05, there are 8 students who grew up in mainland China, while class 04 has a slightly larger Chinese student body, and class 06 has a smaller one. Applicants who apply in R2 and R3 would have a fair chance to get in.
Hope my answer would help potential applicants here who have related questions. I would encourage everybody who loves Stanford and who believes in herself to apply. Afterall, the application is a riskfree attempt with nothing to lose. I guess in our life typically we seldom regret doing something, and more likely regret not having done something.
Best wishes to everyone who is applying this year!
