84. Some people prefer to spend time with one or two close friends. Others choose to spend time with a large number of friends. Compare the advantages of each choice. Which of these two ways of spending time do you prefer? Use specific reasons to support your answer.

Depending on personal experience, personality type and emotional concern, some people prefer to spend time with one or two close friends, but others, in contrast, deem spending time with a large number of friends as the premier choice. There are some advantages on both sides.

Firstly, spending time with one or two close friends has its own advantages, that is, we can know each other better and develop a deep friendship. We can chat more clearly with one or two friends than with a large group. There would be probably too noise in a large group, and even one cannot hear the other one. But talking with one or two close friends is just the opposite.  In a quiet environment, we just talk with one or two friends and tell them what happened to us and what the problem is. Even they are unable to solve the problem, they can help us release our stresses. This really helps us to build up a closer relationship.

On the other hand, spending time with a large group also has its unique advantages that we can be exposed to the more colorful and interesting aspects of the lives of more people. It can be given a concrete example that a large number of friends are better than one or two friends when it is a celebration. In the New Year’s Eve, many people go downtown to count down. It is a wonderful time to welcome the New Year with thousands of people. Moreover, it is a good choice to spent time with a large number of friends going camping. During the camping, we can help each other and make fun.

Although sometimes I would spend time with many friends, personally, I prefer to spend my time with one or two friends of my own choice, so that we can have some quiet and quality time together. It is not always necessary to spent time with a large number of friends, because at that time we just make fun and it seems to waste the time. I like to be with one or two friends because we can share experiences, discuss the problem and have a good get together in a quiet environment.
