1: Distinguish yourself and your potential contributions -this is especially important in Round 2!

Remember that at most of the top MBAprograms, the shape of the incoming class has already begun to form because theadmissions committees have extended offers to great candidates and have alreadybegun to receive affirmative responses. Each business school wants a diversityof students, so if they have informally earmarked about 40 seats to Indianforeign national men and they have already heard from 25 admits who will acceptthe admission offer, then there are only 15 seats left. Will that affect theodds for other Indian foreign national men who apply to this school? Of course!

What becomes exceedingly important in Round 2, then, is that you offer acompelling portrait of the strength of your qualifications and of youruniqueness. Insubmitting a Round 2 application, you are asking the admissions committee tointegrate you into the mix. Make sure to set yourself apart through what you say in your essays. Payparticular attention to communicating what makes you a great choice. Why shouldthe admissions committee add you to the students they have already admitted?How will your unique experiences add to the diversity of the class and enhancelearning? What important skills and qualities do you have to share? How do yourlong-term goals distinguish you? It is vital that you answer such questions in a confident andpersuasive manner.

2: Present a great blend of achievements and interests.

Here's another important bestpractice for Round 2. You don’t want to come across as a one-dimensionalcandidate at any time, but particularly not in Round 2. If the school hasalready admitted 60 management consultants and it only intends to admit 70total, you won’t maximize your odds of admission if you present yourself as a candidatewho is wholly interchangeable with a candidate of a similar background. The committee should read youressays, resume, application and recommendations and come to the conclusion thatyou are a unique candidate of your profile, and thus, when choosing amongcandidates who otherwise might have similar work experience and similaracademic strengths, you have presented aspects about your experiences andinterests that add a new flavor.

Essays function in many ways: like your marketing package,they should emphasize your chief leadership achievements, experiences, andattributes that will make the admissions committee see you as an indispensableasset to the school. Strive to present a wonderful blend of achievementsand interests.

学校在选择录取申请者的时候要看这个班级是不是够多元化，这个多元化有很多方面，国家，文化，工作领域，技能等等。所以你最好能表现出自己是多面手，增加录取可能性。

3: Maximize your alternatives- identify the ideal blend and number of business schools to which toapply.  

Because admissions is morecompetitive in Round 2 at many top MBA programs, you should cast your net alittle more widely than you might have done in Round 1 so that you can try tomaximize the number of positive responses you receive and thereby placeyourself in a position where you can choose which MBA program to attend fromamong two or more strong MBA programs. A key to securing multiple admissions can be in makingsure you apply to a good mix of schools – perhaps two safety schools, two ormore highly ranked schools that are likely within reach, and one to two reachschools.  

For candidates who applied in Round 1and are submitting additional applications in Round 2, you should use yourRound 1 outcomes to calibrate your selection of Round 2 schools. For instance,a Round 1 candidate who has received admissions from most of their Round 1schools may be inspired to apply to more competitive schools in Round 2.Similarly, a candidate who did not fare well at schools in Round 1 may need toconsider applying to less competitive schools in Round 2 along with one or twomore competitive schools (and when applying to the more competitive schools,they would do well to first get feedback about what went wrong with their Round1 applications).

第二轮申请对于国际生来说已经算不早的了，所以还是要尽可能的最大化自己被录取的可能性。保底学校，目标学校，冲刺学校都需要有规划的申请在第二轮时候。
