正确答案的D中是不是把“about the social and economic”放在“the social and economic”之后也是成立的呢，因为后面的“they do”中的“do”是代替前面的“know”。如果是这样的话，那么是不是证明上面的题中的“emerged”和“thought”是不可比的呢？

Here evidence is that complex life-forms emerged much earlier than previously thought. Not suggests..................

Well, I see your problem,  

scientists have gathered evidence suggesting that complex life-forms emerged much earlier than previously thought

we can rewrite this sentence: scientists suggest that (....................) Here (....................) must be a thought, otherwise, this sentence makes no sense,

as an analogy,

The Warner Bros Pictures suggest that Ben Affleck is more capable to play the role of bat man in the coimg movie "Bat man VS Superman" than previously thought.

the highlight part is, of course, a thought, so it is a parellel structure.

谢谢您能不厌其烦，现在有点懵懂了，但是我还是想钻下牛角尖，scientists have gathered evidence suggesting that complex life-forms emerged much earlier than previously thought这个句子如果把thought去掉是不是就不成立了？可不可以从语法的角度帮我解释一下呢？谢谢~~~

此题也是不解，我的看法是，previously thought是个省略句，应该是complex life-forms emerged much earlier than that they previously thought
