关于 so as to

求so as to 的用法和意思！
我记得在哪里看过so as to 不是表原因的么。
mahattan 的idoms 中 in order to 里有一句： she drank coffee so as to stay awake. 是 suspect.
但是后面的problem set ：7 解释中又说 so as to do  wrong

我做过的OG PREP 从来没有正确选项里出现 so as to 这种用法
因为 so as to 连用表示目的 这样的话直接用to就好了 省了两个单词
倒是见过 so adj. as to 的用法

Often major economic shifts are so gradual as to be indistinguishable at first from ordinary fluctuations in the financial markets.

以下内容摘自prep 2008语法笔记

so … as to be/do一般用于单一主语，但是不能相隔太远，否则可以视为错误，后面一般不加被动语态。

原理：so … as to事实上是三个结构的结合，so引出的是状语，as指代句子前面的核心含义，to是不定式引导状语结构(adverbial structure)，此不定式修饰的正是前面的核心动词以及该动词的逻辑主语，所以只有当前面只有一个核心动词而且很明确的时候才能够用so…as to，也正因为修饰成分离被修饰词过远会造成修饰不清，所以to be/do结构不能与前面动词不能太远。

以下来自manhattan的ron：

in general, you don't use so ADJ as toVERB unless the VERB describes some sort of state/condition. i.e., if the verbis an action verb, this construction generally isn't used.

for instance,

i am so ugly as to be viscerally repulsiveto women. --> this works, because the verb “to be” describes astate/condition.

i am so ugly as to repel women on sight.--> you generally wouldn't see this in good writing, as “repel” is an actionverb; the sentence would probably be written as i am so ugly that i repel womenon sight.
