can I know why you think that way? Thanks a lot for helping out! Actually, I turned down some domestic PhD offers like SAIF and I am really not sure whether if I did it right.

我觉得SAIF挺好。。。

A strong recommendation from a big name is the most important  thing.
Of course, there are also lots of econ big names which are familiar in finance department.
On the other side, if you are enrolled in a finance program, you are still (in some program) able to register econ/stat/OM courses.

SAIF's master program also seems to be a good bridge to U.S. PHD.

确实挺好，越来越多的老师回来做全职了，比如巨能久老师。然后自己学校的老师（沪上某学校）也建议趁早出去，所以想来想去还是更倾向于国外读个博，所以现在想申跳板硕。拒掉SAIF已经让我纠结不堪了。

Thanks a lot! I also think recommendation is the most important thing so I tend to go for a MSF in some fin big schools like ohio state, WTUSL, et al. And actually I have no feeling for econ theories. Sigh~

Yeah, when I was applying summer camps, I just thought domestic master of finance program  is too job-oriented like GSM in PKU and SAIF, which I may have a second thought about at the moment. But I've not heard anyone in the two programs to go PhD possibly because the two are good enough in China to get a nice industry placement. Or my sample is not long and big enough.

I got SAIF's MS/PhD, 硕博连读 in chinese, and so far no one in this program quit to get a master degree and apply abroad. But this year some of them go to UC Berkerly and MIT for visiting. And I will go there as TA for its MBA program in the late Oct.
