个人浅见如下：
A选项的主语（ the sandpipers vanishing）跟 the grassy fields and old pastures 不平行。
如果把 vanishing in the northeastern United States 看做sand pipers的修饰语，那就出现了楼主说的主谓不一致的情况。A也不对。

两种观点我认为并不互斥。

同学你好你好~~~我想问一个题目之外的问题，不知道你是否清楚：
Like the grassy fields and old pastures that the upland sandpiper needs for feeding and nesting when it returns in May after wintering in the Argentine Pampas..
为什么Like后面能接从句呢？like 不是只能接名词或者名词性短语么？

首先感谢您阅读我的意见，如果没有理解错误的话，我的浅见如下:
like 后面的grassy fields and old pastures其实就是一个名词。这个名词后面的that修饰这个名词。

不知道我是否理解正确。

不好意思来挖一下
我想把这道题简化为：Like the grassy fields(that bird needs for nesting)(when it returns), the bird itself is vanishing....
我老师告诉我直接根据红字部分it，就可以判断之后的主语要用单数，然后这道题就只能选b了，我有点想不通，这道题后面的两个括号不都是用来修饰fields 的吗？可以根据修饰里面的单复数信息来决定后面句子主语单复数吗？
