1: Always keep in mind the 3 P’s: Preparation, Professionalism, and Patience.

While it is your physical materialsand experiences that are outlined by admission officers, you are often alsoevaluated on your attitude, eagerness, and organizational skills.  

In terms of being prepared, make sure you are familiar with the application process for the schoolof interest. Not all programs require the same things. Prepare eachapplication packet carefully, paying close attention to what is required andmost important to each individual program.  

Be professional.You are applying to an MBA program that is likely professional in nature. It isimportant that the admissions committee know that you hold a desire to become asuccessful professional. Easy ways to show this are to submit a proper résuméand hold true to all deadlines.

Most of all, be patient. When you are applying, it is likely that many other students areapplying also. Many schools are probably experiencing an extremely high volumeof applications as deadlines approach, and, while it is certainly OK to followup on the status of your application, allow adequate time for processing. Feelfree to ask when an admission decision might be expected, but don’t hound yourcontact.

对你申请的学校做足准备，了解他们需要的所有申请材料。你的简历要体现出你的professional. 耐心等待结果，当然也可以发发邮件问一下申请进度。

2: Submit a clear application.
As simple as it sounds, make sure your application is legible and easyto understand. If submitting an application electronically is an option, we asan admissions staff always prefer applicants go that route. If there is noelectronic application, type your information. We prefer that students avoidhand-writing an application if at all possible. We also accept some applicationdocuments via e-mail. This is the best and most efficient way to send andreceive documents, and we much appreciate those applicants who submit documentsthis way. It is important to find out what is easiest and most efficient, and,again, remember that this medium will not be the same for all programs andschools.

Brush up yourrésumé. Use the career services office at your undergraduate universityfor tips. Make sure to customize your objective to each program as you would ifyou were applying for jobs at several different places. Make sure to be clearand concise, and use résumé paper if possible.

Use spell check,and re-read your work before submission. When we start noticing that theapplicant is not following instructions, or submits an essay or résumé withtypos, or uses incorrect grammar, the applicant is not likely to be admitted.It’s that simple.  

If you are able to hand deliver a piece of your application packet orthe entirety of your application, do so. This way, program administrators canput your face with your name, and you can introduce yourself to the peoplemaking the decisions regarding your future in academia.

所有的申请材料最好能罗列清楚，语法错误，拼写错误一定要避免。

3: Make your personal statementpersonal.
Admissions staffs, when reviewing applications, are really good at pickingout and recognizing essays that are generic. DO NOT copy and paste essays, but rather make themspecific for the school and the program you’re applying to. You want to showthe committee and the person reviewing your application that you did your homeworkand research. The Admissions Committee spends a lot of time reviewingyour application, and reading your essays, and assume that you put a lot oftime into your application and deserve that in return. Every school asks their own questions, so be surethat you actually answer the questions being posed, and it reflects the correct school.

你的PS 一定是要按照学校的问题回答的，而不是复制粘贴别的学校的PS. 最好能在PS 里面体现出你对这个学校和这个项目的了解。
