• Cmore so than those who retired（correct）
• Dwhich was more so than those retiring
• Ewhich was more than if they had retired
  

这句话比较的主语吧，就是women who took new jobs after retiring from their primary careers和woman who retired completely,那么既然是主语与主语的比较，应该加上一个助动词did啊，不然就会产生歧义，变成宾语与宾语的对比，也就是marital satisfaction与woman who retired completely的对比了，所以我觉得这题有问题～～跪求大神指教！！！

这里不需要did。
除了情态动词外，只有不补出助动词的时候会造成句意ambiguity的时候，才要补出did。
C选项的so已经指代了逗号前的reported marital satisfaction，所以不会造成楼主所说的宾语与宾语的混淆比较。

补充一句,这里不需要did的原因是动宾结构 reported xxxx， 很难用 一个简单的did来代替，具体可参见Ron的解释http://www.manhattangmat.com/forums/post65270.html

其实这题在OG里可以找到原型：OG13-42正确句子：
To develop more accurate population forecasts, demographers would have to know a great deal more than they do now about the social and economic determinants of fertility.
这里因为know这个动词可以用do代替，所以就是你最初说的形式。(注意这里a great deal 是adv.修饰more than adv.，不是know的宾语神马的)
