因为用了被动，的话，主语就改变了，这两个东西就不是同一个主语了，当然不平行了，其次C的some time也是错了，要+AT

是这样的，so that 后接结果状语从句，所以their numbers were greatly reduced是个句子，而our genetic variation只是个词，两者不平行

但是不会这样么，原来是两个句子平行：“their numbers were greatly reduced” and thus "our genetic variation were greatly reduced"，然后后面句子省略了相同成分“ were greatly reduced”，只剩下our genetic variation吗？

这样就大错特错，且不说这样与逻辑意思完全不符，单就形式上看，如果按你的说法，应该合并为their numbers and our genetic variation were greatly reduced，而不是你说的把并列的主语单独放在最后，省略不是像你这样随心所欲的。

没错，这样是有一点儿awkward，正常写句子是不会这么写的 。谢谢~

我想问下 OG的解释里说 scientists believe that X -[in other words] that Y.是这题的平行结构。我有点不能理解。大牛能解释下么？谢谢啦！

看上去像是从句的并列，最好贴出原题，以便更好的加以判断解释。

OG解释： the underlined part of this sentence is an explanatory rewording of the clause that follows believe.scientists believe that X-[in other words,]that Y. In this construction, X and Y are parallel clauses.
我就是不太理解这个解释和这个平行结构。
