Scientist: Some critics of public funding for this research project have maintained that only if it can be indicated how the public will benefit from the project is continued public funding for it justified. If the critics were right about this, then there would not be the tremendous public support for the project that even its critics acknowledge.

解释是：可以推断出Critics的观点是错误的，不知道是怎么推断出的。

. If the critics were right about this, then there would not be the tremendous public support for the project that even its critics acknowledge.这句话if right then A,所以not A 推出not right。其实作者语气是说事实上存在这样的support，并且critics自己也承认。那么critics不就是自相矛盾么，如果right就没有government support，他又承认有。
并且这题可以通过core进行排除
A. benefits is not the issue, the argument is saying that indicating benefits
B. too board.
C.surest? never mention this
D.logical flaw. justified 推出indicate。not indicate 推出justified
E.it is the core, indicate the benefits
