推荐信是否会被check？

请了一个以前的领导写推荐信，但她英文不好，所以基本都是我自己完成，只不过跟她打了个招呼挂了她名而已。

请问学校会给推荐人打电话或发邮件check吗？

Most top schools may check the reference letter after admission.

You'd better let her know exactly what the reference letter says. Then you won't get trouble if the admissions committee checks.

I don't think adcoms will stay in their office until midnight just to call somebody in fareast whom they never know. Even the local US applicants, whose rec can be reached very convieniently, are partly background checked in few  top schools routinely doing so. Therefore, for intl. applicants, if they decorated something about themself the chance being caught is far less. Take advantage of it if you have to.

Schools now hired special agents to do the checking. Until then, anyoffer will be conditional. I know UCLA website clearly made the note.

agree, especially with top schools.

but I do not think non-top10 schools will check so often. According to my experience, none of them contacted my recommenders later, though all of them provided scholarships to me.
