关于Noun modifier的touch rule问题

答案是B，我错选了C，没看到那个back多余了。但单纯看modifier的话，我觉得C更好
相反，正确答案B：noun modifier，根据曼哈顿语法，不应该要服从touch rule吗？always hoping to return不应该要靠近Bill Walton吗？

我认为这题B选项的最后部分是作为verb modifier来修饰前面Bill Walton continued playing这个动作的（尽管它的逻辑主语还是Bill Walton），所以不用遵守touch rule。不知道楼下牛牛怎么看？

我也同意楼上，hoping blablabla应该是修饰前面BILL的整个动作的，这是叫做作状语修饰么？

查了一下资料：伴随状语是指状语从句的动作伴随主句发生，它的特点是：它所表达的动作或状态是伴随着句子谓语动词的动作而发生或存在的。——嗯嗯，是verb modifier，不一定要touch rule。谢谢解答！！
