     Why do you think people attend college oruniversity？

Recently, with the expansion enrollment of college,there are more opportunities provided for students to attend college to get professionalknowledge. As a recently statistics showed that there were more than 9000000students participated in the college entrance examination in China this year.People attend college or university for different reasons. From my point ofview, I think they want to get themselves prepared which could put them in afavorable position in the future competitive job market.

First and foremost, before attending college, studentsonly have chance to get basic knowledge. But after obtain specialized knowledgefrom university, you may reach the high position requirement in high-techcompanies. For instance, if you intend to seek your future career as a softwareengineer, you need to be prepared with some computer science knowledge andskills. Moreover, if you want to be a lawyer, you have to get a Doctor degreeafter you finish your undergraduate course.

Secondly, the majority of employers prefer to hire thepeople with a higher degree. In today’s job market, a good degree or certificatewill make you more competitive. For example, if two people both apply for a salesmanager position and one with a college degree and another one without. Eventhough they have the same ability in the field, it is obvious that the employermay still select the people with the college degree. College graduates are notonly more likely to receive more job offers, they can also command highersalaries than the applicants who lack college diplomas.

Finally, in addition to offering more choices andhigher salaries, a college graduates are more clearly about their careerdevelopment. A graduate with a major of CS, for example, could allow him to bea software engineer. The same major could also be used to apply to a career assoftware sales man. Both of these avenues would be unavailable without takingthe first step of an undergraduate degree in CS.

To sum up, although there are many reasons that peoplelike attend college after high school course, the main reason I think is thatthey want to have more choices, higher salaries, and more opportunities foradvancement in an increasingly competitive job market.
