1.Do you agree ordisagree with the following statement? At universities and colleges, sports andsocial activities are just as important as classes and libraries and shouldreceive equal financial support. Use specific reasons and examples to supportyour answer.
Compared with the financial support toclasses and libraries, the fund of sports and social activities is negligible. Should we give them equal support? Do they have the samesignificance in universities and colleges? Apparently, the primary task ofuniversities and colleges is to foster students’ ability to learn and survey. The core status of academic study is undisputed. Soby no means are sports and social activities as important as classes andlibraries. Although there is no necessity to equal the money given to both parts, it is essential to increase the supportto sports and social activities. For one thing, they are the key factors tomaintain health both physically and mentally. There is no doubt regularexercise guarantees body fit, which is fundamental to high spirit and anenergetic performance. What’s more, heavy homework and fierce competitions makethe daily life so stressful that students are in great need to have a stressreducer. As we all know, sports can drive annoying things out of our headsand relax our nerves, and social activities offer us a platform to turn topredecessors for help. For another thing, the lack of funds areserious which blocks the development of students horribly. According to a survey subjecting to thecurrent condition of exercising environment in universities, over 60% studentsthought the equipment of school’s gym couldn’t satisfy them, while more than90% students regarded it was the equipment that attracted them to exercise. Theconstruction of gyms lags far behind students’ demand. Therefore, to kill timewhen they’re free, students spend more time playing computer games, watching TVand so on. Obviously, these activities contribute to diminution of vision andsloth, greatly decreasing students’ efficiency. Sports and social activities would nevertake the place of classes and libraries, but they are critical in enhancingstudents’ efficiency. Unfortunately, we do fail in balancing their financialsupport and it pays off. Now that more funds should be provided to sports andsocial activities.
