CDERs，大家好。首先祝大家早日实现梦想。

我是SC新人，在阅读了几篇好贴后，开始自己的SC长征。先从OG13开始。昨天做了4个题，还是有不解之处。请各位指教。

OG13  1.

正确句子：

In a review of 2,000 studies of humanbehavior that date back to the 1940s, two Swiss psychologists declared thatsince most of the studies had failed to control for variables such as socialclass and family size, none could be taken seriously.

结构分析疑问

第一个逗号前没问题。

两个逗号之间的句子，psychologists declared that 已经是个完整句了吧。

那么，做后面的none could be taken seriously又是一个独立句子的话，是不是就不合理了？

OG13  2.

正确句子：Manufacturers rate batteries in watt-hours;the higher the watt-hour rating, the longer the battery can be expected tolast.

Rate的发起者是不是Manufactures呢？如果修饰thewatt-hour为什么不用 rated？

第一个句子，
that 后面 从since most 知道taken seriously 都是定语从句，所以正确。
第二个句子，
我认为the higher the watt-hour rating = the higher the watt-hour rating is 的简写，the watt-hour rating是一个整体，做名词。

我的理解是：
句子一 two Swiss psychologists declared that since xxx, since标志原因状语从句。逗号前有since，则不属于LZ认为的连接了两个句子的的情况。
句子二 rate的发起者是manufactures，不用怀疑.  the higher the watt-hour rating, the longer the battery can be expected to last.
你分析一下，the higher XXX the longerXXX XXX的结构是一样的。所以battery 后加了动词，watt-hour 后一定是省略了动词 is 。
从语义出发，比较的是，watt-hour 的rating 而不是 rated的watt-hour,所以也不可能作修饰

不知道理解的准确吗。我也在复习。一起加油！

第一句  that 到逗号前都是状语从句，“none could be taken seriously”是declared的宾语，对么？

第二句  rating是动词的ing名词形式。对么？

第一句，理解了since引导的状语从句。但是，还是纠结none could be taken seriously在句子中的成分是什么。

楼主想的太多啦，相比之下我有点不求甚解了。
我感觉刚才说错了~~~
psychologists 是主语，然后declare that 引导宾语从句，后面整个都是宾语从句中的成分了。none XXX是宾语从句的主语~~

OG13 6.正确句子

是否可以把ranks换成has been ranked？？

OG13 7.正确句子

The intricate structure of the compoundinsect eye, with its hundreds of miniature eyes called ommatidia, helps explainwhy scientists have assumed that it evolved independently of the vertebrate eye.

本题的主语是structure 还是 insect eyes？

这种the A of the B 的形式，主语应该是the B 么？

It evoled 的it 为什么不是指代thestructure？

OG13 8.正确句子

In late 1997, the chambers inside thepyramid of the Pharaoh Menkaure at Giza were closed to visitors for cleaningand repair because moisture exhaled by tourists had raised the humidity withinthem to such levels that salt from the stone was crystallizing and fungus wasgrowing on the walls.

Because/because of/due to的异同是什么？

Which 是就近指代前面的名词，请问that有没有同样的作用？

6 不要换，违背简洁的原则,rank主动能表达就不要用被动了。
7 这是介词短语形式，主语肯定是the intricate structure；这里的it优先指代离他近的名词也就是compoundinsect eye(withxxx 是独立主格结构)
8 due to vs because of: due to 用来回答 what's the cause of xxx的问题,也就是说在整个句子中是修饰名词的; because of 用来回答 why 的问题，在整个句子中修饰的是动作。
because of vs because  because of 其性质为preposition，所以后面加代词或名词。  because 是连词，后接句子。
which 和 that 的问题还没想过，不敢妄自回答。
