Ivey PhD program is recruiting its 2014 intake! About 15 spots in strategy, marketing, OB…with automatic funding packages The PhD program at the Ivey Business School, Western University (University of Western Ontario) is based on a strong research tradition – the Ivey Business School has consistently ranked as a top 100 business school based on research output. The PhD program admits about 15 students each year across disciplines. Students register full-time for four years. PhD students select a discipline area when they apply to the program, including general management (strategy), marketing, organizational behavior, operations, management science, accounting and finance.
How it is like studying at Ivey: The program begins in September each year. In the first two years, students are rigorously trained through a series of theory and research methodology courses. Extensive coursework training in small-format discussion seminars are a feature of the Ivey PhD program. In the second year, students are encouraged to present their research at national and international conferences, with generous funding from the PhD program. In the third and fourth year, students solely focus on their dissertation work. They usually start their job search after completing their proposal defense, and most Ivey students also would have obtained employment when they defend their dissertations towards the end of their fourth year. Funding Each student admitted automatically receive a base funding package of $27,700 in each of their first four years. International students receive a grant that pays the difference between the domestic and international tuition fees. The full-time domestic fee is currently $2905.28 per term. Students, once getting enrolled, have the opportunity to work with a faculty member as research assistant with decent additional incomes. Graduate placement Ivey PhD graduates are placed in many leading business schools in North America, Europe, Asia and all over the world. No waivers. Scores must rank within the 75th percentile. Tests results cannot be more than five years old. If English is not your first language, a proficiency test is required. Ivey PhD students spend significant time reading, discussing and presenting their thoughts and ideas in writing and orally, so English is important to be successful in this program!
