请问这里为什么可以使用being? 我记得gmat语法里大部分的being都是不正确的。

Being不一定错，最好不要把being作为首选split。这个题目的考点是meaning和parallelism。根据one of the three best novels判断破折号后面一定得是书，排除acd，再根据主句主语Jean Toomer’s Cane的形式判断，e更加平行。看都不用看being

这里必须是being，这是系动词，同时又修饰the others。所以是are的现在分词形式being。

GMAT对being没有判定为不正确，只有there being有时候会被认为错误（也只是GMAT中才有的特例）。
