Hi, sorry I cannot type Chinese now. I am an undergraduate in Beijing and now get a corporate sales offer, our major business focus on FX. I am kind of new so not very familiar with this field. I wonder what is the typical career path for a salesperson? Is there any possibility to change to different positions? If I want to pursue a MBA in the future, is this sales experience help a lot?
Trader in buy side usually has much less power than pm. most of them are execution traders, who don't have their own book/pnl. but the pay is still good considering life style (quarter to half mil + 6/7 - 5). fixed income traders are usually paid better because the spread is wider and no exchange.
Commodity/Marco/Quant funds are exceptions.
Portfolio managers in fundemental funds have very different background/profiles. They usuallly either have MBA or CFA (in asset management/passive fund) or have IBD/Management Consulting/ER background (in most hedge fund).
