Hi Jon,
I got two admissions this year, one form Ohio State University and the other one from University of Maryland. I did try to compare these two schools and also consulted a few people advice, other, the decision was still hard to make.
Ohio State has a better ranking in Accounting and in Business School. But the location I believe is not as good as Maryland. Though the location is not in large cities, I heard that the school is still a target school for many companies. Students still have a lot of opportunities cross the country. Moreover, OSU is a 9 months program. In my opinion, it is a little bit too short.
Maryland is near DC which means more job opportunities (also true for international students?) and the program is 16 months, three semesters. It allows me to find internships and I believe it is a plus for finding jobs.
Some told me that there are major difference between these two schools. The rankings and reputation are similar(I first thought OSU has a better reputation). Is this actually true? Are they both target schools for Big 4? I personally like UMD better but I am worried that I might lose job opportunities if OSU have a much better reputation in the industry. |
