我一开始也选错了，不过后来想了想，和7楼的第1个观点是一样的

我觉得B的时态有问题

Nearly 99 percent of five hundred million different species of living creatures that appeared on Earth have vanished.

既然是过去时appeared,就说明过去出现的，言下之意现在已经全没了的，但后面有是have vanished，指到目前位置消失了的（占99％），照此理解逻辑就非常有问题了。

看E的时态逻辑就很正确，have appeared on Earth...have vanished, 到目前出现过的...到目前消失了的

所以，out of B and E， I prefer to E

解释的非常清楚，特别是2，主语太长句子绝对不会这么写，要作主语也应该倒装

虽然我同意选E，但是我觉得B的时态没有问题。

复合句中，主句是现在完成时态，从句是过去时态，一般主句的动作发生在从句之后,而且有从过去持续到说话点的含义。

eg,He has worked here since he came here.（虽然是个since从句，但是我觉得不构成说明的障碍）

所以B：Nearly 99 percent of five hundred million different species of living creatures that appeared on Earth have vanished.我觉得没有问题，但是少了the限定 five hundred million different species of...不对。

E的时态不是有问题吗

Of the five hundred million different species of living creatures that have appeared on Earth

have appeared表示持续到现在，而事实其中有许多已经灭绝了呀
