Don't count on it. If transfer from economics department to finance department is so easy, others will also do that, then it become a completely chaos. Hence it is not very likely. But you can always do research in finance if you are a PhD in economics, given that your supervisor is fine with that.

先读个硕士吧，如果楼主觉得自己还能去更好的学校。Econ北美top 10 level的之后的placment一下子能差很多。商学院的话不考虑学校找个教职还是好找的。
