61、The following appeared in an article in the Grandview Beacon. "For many years the city of Grandviewhas provided annual funding for the Grandview Symphony. Last year, however, privatecontributions to the symphony increased by 200 percent and attendance at thesymphony's concerts-in-the-park series doubled. The symphony has also announcedan increase in ticket prices for next year. Given such developments, some citycommissioners argue that the symphony can now be fully self-supporting, andthey recommend that funding for the symphony be eliminated from next year's budget." Write a response in which you discuss what questions would need to be answeredin order to decide whether the recommendation and the argument on which it isbased are reasonable. Be sure to explain how the answers to these questionswould help to evaluate the recommendation. 正文: In this argument the arguer concluded that, the symphony can now be fully self-supporting, and funding for the symphony beeliminated from next year’s budget. The argumentsounds reasonable at first glance, but the author fails to permit the properevaluation to the argument reasoning. So the argument have many questions wouldneed to be answered. First of all, the argument claims that lastyear, attendance at the symphony’s concerts-in-the-park series doubled. Will people come to this symphony this year increasedalso? If this year have an economic critic, people won’t have enough money go to the symphony. So some city commissioners can’t ensure thisyear symphony will have many people go there as much as last year. And, thereis an important question that how many people go to the symphony the yearbefore last. In case there only 10 people go there? Is 20 people ticket enough for the symphony? Wecan’t make sure without sufficient evidence. In addition, the author points out that privatecontributions to the symphony increased by 200 percent and the symphony hasalso announced an increase in ticket prices process for next year. Will private contribution continue thisyear? Is the symphony ticket pricesincreased sufficient to pay the symphony costs? The speaker doesn’t give any information about the ticket prices lastyear, and how much money the symphony needs to maintain operation. Furthermore, would people willing to go to the symphony when the price raised. What’s more, government couldn’t stop supportthe symphony just due to some city commissioners consider that the symphony cannow be fully self-supporting. Developingsymphony should be a project to long-development to cultivate people’sappreciating music ability and it also help the country’s peace andstability. So, in order to development, government must support the symphony, can’t just satisfied they could self-supporting.Government should make sure more and more people possible go enjoysymphony. Rather than make the symphony aimto make sure to survive and earn money. To sum up, the arguer fail to substantiateits claim that the symphony can now be fully self-supporting. Therefore, if theauger had answered the question list above, it would have been more thoroughand logically acceptable.
我不大会写这种要求的题,能告诉我这样写行么,怎么改进,感激不已!!!! |
