the pool for chinese applicants did not shrink, if not increase. If considering ALL schools are trying to reduce the number of Chinese students, the competition will be the same, if not more.

one thing for sure. In this noisy economy, B-schools pay more attention on international applicants' English communication capability, since it is tougher than ever to place international students.

AGREE!!!!  

而且中国申请人其实是不降反升，今年的五六月无考试似乎影响了一部分人考GMAT,但是2000，2001，2002年考试的哥们姐们现在都成熟了，工作经验也丰富了，申请经验也丰富了（有的是reapplicants），都在瞄准top 10, top 20呢。

不过有可能top 30以外的商学院真的会相对去年而言比较容易一些，2000， 2001， 2002，甚至2003年3月前申请过的前辈们大都会瞄准top 30,如果不是这样，请纠正。

而top 30以外的商学院由于种种原因（仅仅针对中国大陆申请人市场而言），不得不面对来自欧洲、加拿大、香港新加坡、澳大利亚的竞争。特别是中国大陆申请人考虑到签证的变数。

偶认识的一个大学本科时的校友，海龟，工作背景和教育背景都不错的，申请2003年秋季入学的MBA，全被拒，只有纽约大学WAITING LIST，最后还被拒，所以对中国大陆的申请人，恐怕形势没有质的变化

非常赞成你的观点,Stern商学院的waiting list是全世界最长的waiting list之一,上了跟没上区别不是太大(丝毫没有不敬你的校友之意,只是形势实在太难,由不得人称心如意.)

That has never happened before. yeah, they have to fill the roster.

I believe u.  especially when u mentioned the detail "outside top 20".  everybody knows that most chinese applicants want to try luck with top 20.  so the situation can be summarized as:

top 20仍然和以前一样难，top 20之后要压力轻一些。

而且，这两年不是top商学院的学生实在是面临着血本无归的风险，很多人被录取后考虑再三而放弃了入学机会，等着下一年进top商学院或改变选择，到中欧等地方势力比较强的学校，或选择一些欧洲学校只需要一年的时间就可以毕业，好歹能省一年的时间与学费，反正也不指望留美了，形势惨淡啊。

所以，不是top商学院的美国商学院面临的竞争比较以前来说大了一点。
