但是这个that 的定语从句为什么也可以比较呢? 怎样还原呢?

2. Small cars that are more fuel-efficient than those at any other time in production history.

that are more fuel-efficient than those at any other time in production history 是限定 small cars 的。

that 指的是 small cars, 补全后便为

Small cars are more fuel-efficient than small cars at any other time in production history

不理解, 为什么可以段句呢? that 明明是修饰small cars的, 不太接受that可以替代small cars.

想了一下, 自己给自己答了.

其实是这样.

small cars that are more fuel-efficient than those at any other time in = more fuel-efficient small cars than those at any other time in

但是more fuel-efficient small cars than those at any other time in 有歧义, 所以就变成了这种that的写法. 可以肯定一点, that 不是指small cars, 因为如果要, 也应该用those.

觉得英文真的很多东西很难掌握.
