Computational Biologist Positions

Up to two postdoctoral positions are available immediately. Salary will be
determined based on experience.

Successful applicants will participate in exciting research projects
including but not limited to:  (1) Vaccine design: next-generation
sequencing analysis will be used to understand the mechanism of antibody
maturation, to identify broadly neutralizing antibodies, and to optimize
antibody functions. Computational tools will be employed to analyze antibody
-antigen complexes and to design novel probes and immunogens; (2) Structure-
function study of molecular complexes: computational tools will be developed
to incorporate experimental data obtained from various experimental
techniques, for example cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM), to understand
structure-function relationship of large molecular assemblies such as enzyme
complexes, transporters and ion channels; (3) Optogenetics: novel
strategies will be developed to design and engineer optical proteins to
control the function of critical components involved in signaling pathways
and circuits implicated in neurodegenerative diseases. Successful applicants
will have the opportunity to work with multiple experimental groups at TSRI

We are seeking candidates with recently earned PhDs in computational biology
, broadly defined. Preference will be given to those who have experience in
development and application of computational methodologies associated with (
1) Next-generation sequencing analysis; (2) Mathematical modeling of
evolution and phylogeny; (3) Protein structure prediction,  modeling and
design; (4) Physical simulation of biomolecules. Proficiency in programming
languages such as Fortran90, C++, Python and Perl is a must.

Jolla, the outskirt of San Diego and a beautiful resort area in California.
