484 wordsScientific research and development made agreat contribution to human being. Author claims that government should placefew, if any, restrictions on scientific research and development. I agree thisrecommendation for most of the cases since I think there are some scientificresearches and developments should be restricted by government.
There is no doubt that because of scientific researchand development, our society becomes a better society and our human being has abetter life. If government put too many restrictions on scientific research, thedevelopment of science will be retarded. For example, it is because of church, the fact that the sun is the center of universe unveiled decades later. Copernicuswas afraid of the punishment by church, so he didn’t tell others this factuntil he was dying. Research on medicine develops new drugs that can save ourlives. Research on computer science develops new way to communicate with eachother so that we don’t have to wait for the letter anymore. Since too many restrictionswill retard the development of science, we need our government free thescientist from doing research to create a better life for us. For thosesciences that will clear lead us to a better future, government should placefew restrictions on their research and development. On the otherside, there is some science field that I think government should place somerestrictions on rather than place few. For example, the research on nuclearweapon will not do any good to our human being until we fight against alien. Researchon such field will not save our life but endanger our life, will not make ourlives better but worse. Beside that, The field that we don’t know what thefuture will be or is pretty controversial is the field that I think governmentshould place some restrictions on. For example: the human cloning. Since we don’tknow whether it’s good or bad to clone a human being and it is not only aboutscience that we need to concern but also moral question. So before we makeclear the future and settle all the questions, government should place somerestrictions on such field to make sure the dangerous thing won’t happen. What’s more, for the fields that will benefit ourhuman being, government not only should place few restrictions but also need tosupport its research and development. As we all know, scientific research costsa lot of money and government should pay for it to make sure scientist canfocus only on doing research. To sum up, for the field that will bring us betterlives, government should not only place few restrictions on it but also supportits research and development. However, for the field that is either will not dogood to us or have a unclear future, government should place some restrictionson it to make should the bad thing won’t happen. |
