这个题单从BD比较来看呢应该是D，两句虽然都繁琐，但是B中有明显错误，句末a United States citizen 明显是单数，所以应该是holds,而且从GMAT推崇的能表示清楚出题人的intended meaning来看，最原始的句子是有On account of，这个是想表达一个因果关系，所以选because of好一点。这个是在做题时，split剩下的选项比较难找出绝对错误时的一个手段。 anyway，有绝对错误必错。 顺便提醒下，美女，下次记得画出下划线部分，题目看起来能方便点。

额....jorko，hold的过去式就是hold吧。。。不过正确答案应该是D吧~一般表示law的内容时用ving的形式；而且make it crime for sb to do sth是一个很好的结构；另外，B中改变一下是immigrants found sth with the law意思改变，变成和law一起发现什么，或者是通过law发现了什么。。。缺少原来因果联系~

额....jorko，hold的过去式就是hold吧。。。不过正确答案应该是D吧~一般表示law的内容时用ving的形式；而且make it crime for sb to do sth是一个很好的结构；另外，B中改变一下是immigrants found sth with the law意思改变，变成和law一起发现什么，或者是通过law发现了什么。。。缺少原来因果联系~

hold的过去式是held吧....过去分词是holden。先不讨论这个了。那要是BD中没有绝对错误的话只能用相对错误来判断了，说实话从相对错误来讲的话，我觉得GMAT中比较常见的反而是B中的that从句来代替D中的多介词结构，可是考虑到语义的话又是D好.... 而这个语义判断我觉得在1m30s一道题的速度下很难完成。一般要除非特明显的转折我能想到要有but之类的转折，其他的直接pace优先启蒙B了。GMAT出题趋势现在就是越来越要靠语义解题了（当然予以凌驾于问题之上，只不过最近靠语义结题这个方法思路越来越多了），那是不是就是最近考试在面对2选一又没时间考虑语义时就去选那个复杂的呢？ 唉...gmat果真是个要看实力说话的考试，考试技巧一直变啊！

而D选项，making it a crime punishable by imprisonment for a United States citizen to hold。。。。。。显然容易混淆句意，同时 it 也无所指代。

sorry~脑子坏了。。。hold的过去式确实是held，不过过去分词有held和holden~（好像更常见held~）anyway，thks~^_^

it可以指代that从句，it指代that从句好像就2种情况：
1.it做形式主语  e.g. It gave us encouragement that we scored at all. 正常语序是That we scored at all gave us encouragement。 而且对于GMAT来讲，这两个句子结构他们反而还偏爱it做形式主语的，一方面是英语里习惯这么讲，另一方面就是这也算是个强调，逻辑清晰。
2.it做形式宾语 e.g. She made it possible that we can see the movie.正常语序我就不写了。 同样对这两个句子来说，gmat偏爱it指代的那个。而且从我做题感觉来讲，没必要分哪个是GMAT偏爱的，主要是可能时间不够（后期练得SC炉火纯青了时间就够了），只要记住这种结构是对的。别因为这个就把选项排除了就行。

另 对于kiwifoodtown 同学来说的那个it 是有指代的，it可也指代不定式的，一个简单的句子就是she make it possible for us to see the movie.对于D那个选项就是，make hold gold in the form of bullion or coins a crime punishable by imprisonment for a United States citizen （斜体部分都是限定a crime的）。 是make+双宾 这个结构。

没事~ 讨论么，而且你之前说的那个make it a crime for sb to do sth一下子让D选项豁然开朗啊，按你的说法分析选项，D应该是对的没跑了！
