E的主干是： Unlike the tiny tubes that...,  which in mammals are..., in birds the tubes...
比较是要求结构完全平行，这里比较的后半部分是in X, Y, 所以unlike后面应该也是类似的结构in A, B
所以如果这里是正确的平行的话应该是unlike the tiny tubes in mammals...., in birds the tubes...


修饰cells我觉得理解无误。

比较是要求结构完全平行，这里比较的后半部分是in X, Y, 所以unlike后面应该也是类似的结构in A, B

额。。。说的是对的，可是还是改错了。。。按兔子你这样改的话，比较的是the tiny tubes in mammals和the tubes，不对等（因为in birds提前后变成整个句子的状语，不再具有定语修饰作用）
另外，回答LZ的问题，manhattan所说的这种情况指的是两个句子的平行对称，如whereas引导的比较。而对于unlike/like比较结构，是非常死板的，必须是unlike/like A,B,而且B前不能由任何成分，这也是兔子改错的另一个原因~

Unlike A, (in XX) B do ..
是典型的错误。
结构不好，容易让人以为 把 A 和 in XX 比较了。或者可以理解为，in XX 放置的位置不好。
其实应该是 A 和 B 比较。

我觉得在这里E选项中which就近修饰cells不对。因为这里的which引导的句子本来逻辑上应该是修饰tiny tubes的吧。从A中能看出来。

相比较限制性定从而言，非限制性定从放的位置更受限制，在E中正常的逻辑主语应该是tubes，但是which定从修饰时不可能跳跃那么多，我记得ron当时的总结就是我之前提的这两种：要么是最近的noun,要么是最近的noun+介短。that定从倒是可以跳跃很多结构，比如E中如果改成that定从，虽然语义上有问题（限制定从和非限制定从的差别），但是却可以跳跃中间所有结构修饰tubes的~
