只是为了简洁和省略，to be可以省略掉

相反的，TOEFL语法里，如果省略to be就是错误

C与D的唯一区别似乎只是一个是单数一个是复数，句法完全一致。

而D的致命弱点系那个it不知是修饰the species还是ant，而D中则用复数解决了这个问题。

而D中的复数与划线部分后面的its是不矛盾的，因为后面的its是指代this species。所以D是最佳答案。

答案给的是D,但是题干未划线部分明明有its指代ant, this species用单数。凭什么划线部分要用复数呢？

d的错误: the kind of fierce intercolony struggles that limit..这里的struggle是动词吧? that指代的应该是the kind of fierce,那limit就应该用单数谓语limits
