A new study suggests that the conversational pace of everyday life may be so brisk it hampers the ability of some children for distinguishing discrete sounds and words and, the result is, to make sense of speech.

  1. it hampers the ability of some children for distinguishing discrete sounds and words and, the result is, to make

  2. that it hampers the ability of some children to distinguish discrete sounds and words and, as a result, to make

  3. that it hampers the ability of some children to distinguish discrete sounds and words and, the result of this, they are unable to make

  4. that it hampers the ability of some children to distinguish discrete sounds and words, and results in not making

  5. as to hamper the ability of some children for distinguishing discrete sounds and words, resulting in being unable to make

Answer: D B

On account of a law passed in 1993, making it a crime punishable by imprisonment that a United States citizen hold gold in the form of bullion or coins, immigrants found that on arrival in the United States they had to surrender all of the gold they had brought with them.

  1. On account of a law passed in 1993, making it a crime punishable by imprisonment that a United States citizen hold

  2. With a law passed in 1933 that makes it a crime punishable by imprisonment that a United States citizen hold

  3. A law passed in 1933 that made it a crime punishable by imprisonment for a United States citizen holding

  4. Because of a law passed in 1933 making it a crime punishable by imprisonment for a United States citizen to hold

  5. Due to a law being passed in 1933 that makes it a crime punishable by imprisonment for a United States citizen to hold

Answer: A B

D选项的表达有歧义,用results 和hampers平行,是表明conversatinal pace引起所有人的sense of speech,而不是children 理解句意,hamper后面有两个内容,to distinguish和to make,make不能与hamper平行。
B选项用to make和to distinguish平行 ,也正是表达了此意

我自己的看法啊:A选项:hold与a United States citizen主谓不一致;making放在句中夹心修饰,如果修饰immigrants则是错误的逻辑关系;imprisonment that a …中that有引起修饰imprinsonment的歧义,所以应该用make it a crime punishable by imprisonment for sb. to do。
A law passed in 1993 that…有作为immigrants同位语的歧义;make it a crime for sb. to do,用doing错误。
后面的所有修饰成分,仅仅because of noun, S.V.O.逻辑上也能够非常直接没有问题;这里because of a law,已经能够表达出是immigrants found that的直接原因
E选项:being冗余,due to在GMAT中不放在句首。

Q39:The survival of a rare New Zealand species of mistletoe that produces spectacular sprays of scarlet flowers is threatened both because their leaves are extremely tasty to a voracious opossum species and also because their flowers are pollinated by two species of birds whose populations are in decline.A.    is threatened both because their leaves are extremely tasty to a voracious opossum species and also because theirB.    is threatened both because its leaves are extremely tasty to a voracious opossum species and because itsC.    is threatened both because its leaves are extremely tasty to a voracious opossum species and also itsD.    are threatened both because its leaves are extremely tasty to a voracious opossum species and itsE.    are threatened both because their leaves are extremely tasty to a voracious opossum species and because their  Answer: A B为什么要用its指代flowers???

GWD3-Q10:
Antarctica receives more solar radiationthan does any other place on Earth, yet the temperatures are so cold and theice cap is reflective, so that little polar ice melts during the summer;otherwise, the water levels of the oceans would rise 250 feet and engulfmost of the world’s great cities.

  1. is reflective, so that little polar ice melts during the     summer; otherwise,
  2. is so reflective that little of the polar ice melts during the     summer; were it to do so,
  3. so reflective that little polar ice melts during the summer, or     else
  4. reflective, so that little of the polar ice melts during the     summer, or
  5. reflects so that little of the polar ice melts during the     summer; if it did
  A B

GWD3-Q11:
Retailers reported moderate gains in theirNovember sales, as much because of their sales of a year earlier being sobad as that shoppers were getting a head start on buying their holidaygifts.

  1. of their sales of a year earlier being so bad as that
  2. of their sales a year earlier having been as bad as because
  3. of their sales a year earlier being as bad as because
  4. their sales a year earlier had been so bad as because
  5. their sales of a year earlier were as bad as that
E   D

GWD3-Q19:
Possible long-term consequences of the“greenhouse effect,” the gradual warming of the Earth’s climate, may includemelting the polar ice caps and a rising sea level.

  1. may include melting the polar ice caps and a rising sea level
  2. may include the melting of polar ice caps and the rising sea     level
  3. may include polar ice caps that are melting and sea levels that     are rising
  4. include melting the polar ice caps and sea levels that are     rising
  5. include melting of the polar ice caps and a rise in sea level
  A E
A选项中的the polar ice caps和a rising sea level难道不平行吗?

1.A选项:is reflective与前面第一个so不平行,后面又出现so that,so..so that不合习惯,而应该用so..., so..., that,使前面两个so平行;而且注意到little of sth. 本身的little。
Were it to do so是虚拟语气的表达方式

否定句用not so...as...
