请NN麻烦解答下capability的用法
capable of doing 这个木有问题

但是capability怎么用呢？是to do/ of doing 都可以还是只有一个可以

但我怎么记得在OG看到过 capability of doing的啊？

DEAR LZ,  下面是我從MANHATTAN copy出來的，關於can用法的內容。其中RIGHT表示肯定可以選的正確用法，SUSPECT表示語法上正確，但是GMAT not preferred的用法。
在SUSPECT裏面有關於capable/capability的用法，請參照。

【RIGHT】
The manager CAN RUN the plant.
The plant CAN CAUSE damage.

【SUSPECT】
The manager IS ABLE TO RUN the plant.
The manager IS CAPABLE OF RUNNING the plant.
The manager HAS THE ABILITY TO RUN the plant.
The manager HAS THE CAPABILITY OF RUNNING the plant.
It is POSSIBLE FOR the plant TO CAUSE damage.
The plant POSSIBLY CAUSES damage.
The plant HAS THE POSSIBILITY OF CAUSING damage.
Note: ALL of these suspect forms are grammatically correct but wordier than CAN.

听了你的更晕了。。。capability of doing 和 capacity to do 哪个是correct，哪个是wordy呢？。。

某個用法wordy，是在grammatically right的前提下相對于其他更concise的選項，它顯得羅嗦了。

capability of doing是GMAT考過的用法。但是相對於其他選項用can等更concise的它wordy。
至於capability to do，我只有在詞典裏面看到過說這種可以（例the capability to increase productivity，提高生產力的能力），但是沒有在GMAT相關題目中看到過這種用法。

主要是wordy是要看題目給出來其他選項相對而言的。
