The following appeared in an editorial in a business magazine.
"Although the sales of Whirlwind video games have declined over the past two years, a recent survey of video-game players suggests that this sales trend is about to be reversed. The survey asked video-game players what features they thought were most important in a video game. According to the survey, players prefer games that provide lifelike graphics, which require the most up-to-date computers. Whirlwind has just introduced several such games with an extensive advertising campaign directed at people ten to twenty-five years old, the age-group most likely to play video games. It follows, then, that the sales of Whirlwind video games are likely to increase dramatically in the next few months."
Write a response in which you examine the stated and/or unstated assumptions of the argument. Be sure to explain how the argument depends on these assumptions and what the implications are for the argument if the assumptions prove unwarranted.

In this argument the auguer comes to the conclusion that the sales of Whirlwind video games are likely to increase dramatically in the next months. To justify the conclusion, the author cites a recent survey of video-game players suggests that this sales trend is about to be reversed, although the sales have declined over the past two years. The author also points out that Whirlwind has just introduced several games which provide lifelike graphics and require the most up-to-date computers with an extensive advertising campaign dircted at people ten to twenty-five years old. However, close scrutiny of this argument reveals that it is unconvincing in several aspects.
To begin with, the survey must be showed realible before I can accept any conclusion the author arrives at based on it. However, the survey only covers the game players, it is entirely possible that the players attitudes will not deside the sales trend of video games wholely. The game designers, the sales company and the specialist also have an improtant influence on the quality of the video games. Morever, the author gives no information about players think that a video game which provide lifelike graphics is the most important feature will buy and play such kind of games. For that matter, games with lifelike graphic may not be sold well.
In addition, even if the assumptions according to the survey are justified, the argument still suffers from claiming that games who provide lifelike graphics which require the most up-to-date computers can be beared by customs whom Whirlwind faced to. In this argument, the author shows no information about the players have up-to-date computers to play such kind of games, and if they do not own such computers, they will buy up-to-date computers just for playing video games. Common sense tells us that, up-to-date computers will cost much more than normal computers, and not every players can bear or would like to pay for such expensive computers. Thus, players might not accept this kind of video games at all.
Finally, the author shows no evidence that people aged ten to twenty-five who most likely play video games will prefer to such kind of video games. The author unfairly claims that people who are ten to twenty-five years old, most likely to play video games will prefer to video games provide lifelike graphics. Even if that those age people will prefer such kind of video games, the author tend to assume that an extensive advertising campaign directed at them will increase the sell of this video games. Yet, the author fails to prove this poor assumption.
In sum, the conclusion reached in the argument is invalid and misleading. To make it logically acceptable, the author should have to demonstrate that the survey in the augument is realible and most of the players will buy up-to-date computers to play this kind of video games. Morever, I would suspend my judgment about the credibility of this argument until the author can provide more information about players aged ten to twenty-five will prefer and buy such kind of video games.
