Only seven people this century have been killed by the great white shark, 这题一个问题是the ones不能指人，曼哈顿上解释去其实我也没看懂，我只能理解这题是一句话和一句话的对比，如果仅仅是人和人的对比，他应该是only seven people, fewer than those blablabla, have been killed by blablabla。否则我也可以理解成是only seven people this century have been killed by shark, fewer than the people has been killed by those have been killed by bee stings???还是一种状态的比较吧

没有看懂你的意思。。。这句话本身就是句子和句子的对比，这一点我是同意的。
哪里来的the ones？

这个题，原题用的就是they，指代elderly people

这个题，原题用的就是they，指代elderly people

如果用those的话，只能指代people，那么句子就变成了老年人和people的比较

从语义上来说，这里是讲老年人在日本的待遇比其他西方国家的待遇好，强调的是老年人这个整体，比较的重点是不同的国家
