Hello guys,

Pay attention to this news. From dean of Ross.

In order to maintain our very high level of selectivity, we will soon be slightly reducing the number of admissions for our Full-Time MBA Program, going from approximately 500 students per graduating class to approximately 440. During the past few weeks, there has been some discussion around whether to reduce the number of sections to five; however I am pleased to report we will maintain six sections. This is positive news for everyone, as students will now enjoy a higher faculty to student ratio in the classroom.  Section sizes will be reduced from about 84 students each to about 74.  This reduction in the size of each section is intended to enhance the classroom experience as part of our overall Ross commitment to learning.

缩招，几乎是major MBA未曾有过的事情。
从数据看， Ross两千出头的申请量确实很难支撑现在500-550的规模。希望这只是个例，而不是所有MBA都效仿的事情。缩招以后，Ross和Duke就差不多大了，Ross的就业资源应该比Duke更多，对第一届缩招的人应该是很有帮助的。

取消贷款+不确定的经济形势，今年Ross的申请人数应该又下来不少，为了保证生源质量，缩招也在所难免，不过这对录取的学生来说未尝不是件好事

取消贷款确实有影响 但是不确定的经济形势应该会有更多人去bschool规避风险啊...


前几天看新闻 说明年第四季度预测美国失业率会破10... 所以估计这几年申请总人数应该有上升啊...

什么新闻啊,明显就业应该会好转把,财政悬崖应该不是问题.

其实主要还是密歇根的衰落。美国其他地方的MBA没见要缩招的。密歇根的萎靡， 造成其他地区的美国人对去UMich读书有很多顾虑。
这也可以理解为什么Kellogg在考虑缩招2年制，扩招1年制MBA。芝加哥也受到那块地方萧条的影响。

去读B-school有很大一部分人是想实现career switch的，其中又有相当大一部分人想去IB/MC。目前这样的大环境，IB受到的影响很大，MC的日子也没有好到太多，如果是一个目前身处相对没有受太多影响来自实业中的申请人，是否还会是每个人继续义无反顾放弃本已殷实的工作，去背上15w美金的贷款面对很大的不确定性呢？

去年的数据已经显示更多美国Top b-school的申请人数都比之前有了下降，如果能看到分地区的数据，本土的应该掉得更厉害，估计也就中国/印度在涨吧

虽然我不是Ross的学生，但个人觉得这个结论下得也有点太快了

申请人数下降是目前美国mba所遇到的有很大普遍性的问题，具体可见之前其他同学做的汇总。

CBS    -19%
Michigan    -17%
Stern    -11.5%
Yale    -9.6%
MIT    -8%
Harvard    -4%

个人认为，面对申请人数下降，从保证生源质量、学生竞争力和学校声誉等多个角度来看，缩招是合理和负责任的做法，用这点来判断一个学校的总体表现未免有些以偏概全了

相反，如果申请人数大幅下降，录取人数却保持不变，个人对这一情况持谨慎态度
