简单的判别: 在其它相同的情况下，公理rather than>instead of/but not/not通常是成立的。

Personally, the above example can not be convincing enough to prove the rule, described as"not…but… > …rather than… > instead of（出自石林语法）". So I am still confused about the problem.

don't bother "but not", "rather than" or whatsoever. The key here is "ATTRACT"!
