What can the combination of a Master of Engineering and an MBA do for you? The Master of Engineering is a professional degree, designed to give engineers more advanced engineering skills along with teamwork and communication skills that enable them to move into engineering careers at a higher level. The College of Engineering offers master's degrees in 15 fields, with the flexibility to include coursework in other scientific and technical fields.
The MBA adds knowledge and skill in all the business functions along with a general management perspective. The combination of these degrees prepares engineers to advance through product development and engineering management roles to higher levels of business leadership.
Some of our alumni, like Dito Garcia, believe their MBA/MEng degree combination has put them on the fast track to advance to higher levels with greater business responsibility in corporate technology companies.
Others, like Dave Gleberman, have put the knowledge and skills they gained through their dual degree program into highly successful entrepreneurial ventures. The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Institute, a unique triad of hands-on capital, consulting and legal gives students performance-learning opportunities to apply their knowledge and develop their skills. At Cornell, you can enhance and accelerate your career through the M.Eng./M.B.A. degree program, earning two Ivy League degrees in two years: your M.Eng. from the College of Engineering and your M.B.A. from the Johnson School. This degree option is also available if you prefer to gain work experience after completing your M.Eng. and then return to the Johnson School.
The two degree programs have separate admission processes. You must apply to the Accelerated M.B.A. program after you enroll in—or have completed—the M.Eng. program.
Each year, the College of Engineering and the Johnson School award several $40,000 Knight Scholarships to top students who choose to pursue dual M.Eng./M.B.A. degrees.
