我没明白这道题怎么了。结构就是 sounds consist of varation, which can be sensed by the ear.

前面主句，后面是varation的定语从句，这里就是因为它不恰当的省略了定语从句的引导词，所以C是错的。需要把which补回来。

你说的受格关代是指“受格关代+主语+谓语Vt”。但如果从句是被动态，句子结构是：关代+谓语（be+Vted）+（by+施动者）。关系代词在这里作的是从句主语，不是宾语，所以它不是“受格关代”。给你举个受格关代的例子：

I read the book that my friend gave to me. that就是作的从句宾语。所以我也可以说I read the book my friend gave to me. 省略that. 这个that才是受格关代。

再分析一下被动态从句改成分词为什么不能保留be动词。

在 “关系代词+谓语（be+Vted）+（by+施动者）”结构中假如你去掉关系代词而保留be+Vted 这就是一个完整的谓语, 在没有连接词表明主从关系的情况下，一个句子里面不可能存在两个谓语。还是用这个简单例子， I read the book that was given to me by a friend. 按照你的改法就变成 I read the book was given by a friend. 这个句子里有read 和 was given.两个谓语，所以句子不成立。

但你也可以这样改： I read the book given by a friend. 把它变成分词作定语，如果你把它理解成是省略了的定语从句，也就是我说的同时去掉连接词和be动词的定语从句省略法。

P.S 我觉得你的“受格关代”的说法有待商榷，that即使作从句宾语也不是受格，真正的受格是whom这种。

关键在于“检查句子的主语”；

第一题的主语是Some types of music（such as jazz做插入语）

第二题的主语是the best known

鉴于这两题也不存在独立主格，所以其他部分不能出现主语的形式。

非得用斜体字Young Mother and Two Children 你才看得出来吗？

又譬如四大名著有一本叫one hundred seven men and one woman《水浒》

107 men and one woman is a book。
