3) Educational institutions have aresponsibility to dissuade students from pursuing fields of study in which theyare unlikely to succeed. Write a response in which you discuss theextent to which you agree or disagree with the claim. In developing andsupporting your position, be sure to address the most compelling reasons and/orexamples that could be used to challenge your position.
I disagree with the point in the topic that education institutionsshould not let their students chase their dreams in the fields that areunlikely to succeed. However, the idea in the topic is based on the kindnessthat they do not want students to fail, but it lost in feasibility and otherstrong principles.
Itis true that young people today do not have a thoughtful idea about the future, and they may not understand the fields that they are trying to go for , andthat makes it very important for educational institutions to guide theirstudents to go to a right direction. There are many examples of young-agecriminations and violences, and that must be a failure of educationalinstitutions, since they didn't successfully teach their students to chase dreamsin good fields. All of those remind us to guide our students to pursuing fieldsof study in which they are likely to succeed. In this view, it is necessary tostop our students to pursuing fields which they are unlikely to win.
However, it is difficult for educationalinstitutions to recognize which fields are going to give their students successand which are not. As we all know, thirty years ago, there was a wind to go tocomputer field, and many students went to study it despite they did not have interestsin computer. And now, those people do not have big success in computer, andthey wasted their youngth to chase the dreams not belonging to them. Besides, this situation left the whole country a really big problem that is so many good students in the computer field thatwhen there is a new field which has a bright future, there is no more technicalpeople left for it. That is a really miss for both students and country.
If though, the educational institutionshave a good sense about good fields for students, is this a good idea forstudents to pursuing successful fields which they may not have any interest? The answer is obvious no. As an old saying goes, interest is the best teacher.Imagine those students are forced to go to the fields which are likely to besuccess, they may be kind of successful , living in big houses and drivingbetter cars. However, they may lose their happiness in their work, justregarding jobs as their source of salaries, rather than the way to realizetheir dreams and show the world their abilities. That may be kind of sad forpeople, just for money and they won't fell happy.
From my point of view, the best way foreducational institutions is that they offer various kinds of courses and teachtheir students various kinds of basic technologies. What's more, one ofschools' most important responsibilities is that they tell their students theright outlook on life, the correct view of world and the best values. Than allresidues will be belonging to students, they choose what they want based ontheir interests, and ask the school for suggestions and help. Even if theychoose a field that is unlikely to succeed, they may achieve some big resultsand give both school and society a surprise, on the other hand, with the basictechnologies they learned in school and the right attitudes and spirits, theymay themselves find another way or another field to be successful. |
