正答为D，AB我明白为什么不对，C和E真心不理解，OG的解释是

C Hadraised is thewrong verb tense; for … being is awkwardand wordy.

E Fora recovery finally is awkwardand—to the extent that it can be seen as grammatical—does not make sense.

可是我始终不明白到底awkward在哪里，求高人指点，十分感谢！

我也是新人 我觉得吧 主语是 a surge 谓语动词have单三 就这样 选D

C 选项的过去完成时是肯定错的，因为过去完成时是要有标记的，表示过去的过去，而这个句子后半句用的是一般现在时，所以也只能用过去式或者现在完成时
而being在GMAT里出现经常是错的，貌似有专门讨论这个的帖子，楼主可以在论坛里搜一下~

E选项我也纠结了一下，然后现在觉得是这样的。首先过去时用起来没有现在完成时好。
然后主要错误是划线部分存在的歧义，因为你不知道那个finally under way是说的hope 还是recovery

that 引导的是从句应该是hopes 同位语，对其描述说明。for a recovery finally在这里作状语，表示原因。两者意义完全不同。
