后来自己看的时候，觉得如果按这样的句子结构来理解：...lletters anddocuments... are yielding a historical account

(of the military garrison in the first and second centuries) that is as vivid (in its details of personal life) as that gathered... D是一个平行结构，的确应该用as...as...结构。只是这样理解的话，第二个that指代什么呢？指代从庞贝收集到的historical account? 从逻辑意思上来理解，能从庞贝古城里收集到的，不应该是letters and documents on wooden tablets这一类的东西吗？

另外谁能解答一下为什么E错了。我对so... as is that的结构概念十分模糊。

D中的that指代details，是details of personal life 和details gatherd from Pompeii的对比。
E用so的话，一方面逻辑含义变了，另一方面没有so...as is that的用法，要么就是so that，要么就是not so...as，或者so...as to

D的that原来是指代details，这样解从逻辑意思上就没有问题了。但是用单数形式的that 可以指代复数的details吗？

Sorry，楼上说的是，我的理解有误。这样的话that是指代account，不是details。account of MG is as vivid as account from Pompeii.

基本上对选项选D已经没有疑问了。只是这个“are yielding a historical account of the military garrison”到底该怎么来理解呢？尤其是被指代的account，from Pompeii,逻辑是通的吗？希望从对句子了解的角度，有谁能给分析一下了。。
