Whether there is more needs for land to be left in its nature condition or there is more needs for land to be developed for housing and industry is a controversial issue that has been debated for years. On one hand, my country-China- is a developing country and has a greatest population in the world. Therefore, there are certainly a lot of needs for housing and industry development on land. However, on the other hand, the country also has a significant need for preservations of nature land. In my point of view, I think at this moment, there is more needs for land to be left in its nature condition than that for housing and industry.

First of all, in the past years, a lot of natural land was destructed by industrial or farming development. As a result, the environment problem becomes one of the top issues in the government’s priority. Government are trying all means to slow down the vanishing of natural land and erosion of earth and many initiative have been put forward in order to preserve the natural land. In addition, if China does not deal with the environmental issue right now, it may cost more for us to deal with it later when the problem becomes worse. Therefore, there are obviously more needs for us to preserve the natural land than to develop for housing and industry.

Second of all, because China is a big country and plays important role in global environment, therefore, the environmental problems in China are no longer only the problems that affect only China. Rather, the problems may become larger and affect global environment. For example, the continuing erosion of land may eventually affect the global temperature by destroying the ecosphere globally.

Admittedly, needs for land to be developed for housing and industry are also important and can not be ignored. However, if the environment is not carefully protected, no matter how many houses are built or how fast the industry is growing, the basis of the development, which ultimately will be the land, will become less and less and eventually hinder the development of the housing or the industry.

In sum, although there is need in land for development for housing and industry in China, the needs for preserving natural land is more urgent and important. Therefore, we should put our first priority on preserving our natural lands.
