Wow! What a lovely GMAT! That is an AWESOME start to base your application on. With a top university and some REAL international experience (Hope you had fun in France, it's a sweet place).
So you should be good to go even for Top 10 schools. The BIG question is what your work experience was like? So maybe you can answer a few questions for me, and we can think about this further:
1. Do you have any leadership/management in work or out? How many people? (I guess you manage some as a sales manager?
2. Have you been promoted? how many times? Faster than people?
3. Do you work for a big/famous company?
4. What are your goals?

If you give us more info, it will be a LOT easier for us to figure out what is right for you.

Thank you very vey much Jon, thanks for your attention and constructive advice. I think people like you are the reasons to makes Chase Dream so popular and cozy,

1. Do you have any leadership/management in work or out? How many people? (I guess you manage some as a sales manager?

A: I manage 4-5 key distributors and media agencies. No sales rep coz our structure is highly compact, ie. our senior national reserve brand manager only has three reportees and I am one of them. So basically I deal with clients by using distributor's sales forces and I deal with marketing events with media agency's forces. Simply, we outsource quite much.

2. Have you been promoted? how many times? Faster than people?
A: Yes, just once, however as a Global management Trainee, i was supposed to be promoted by this Nov.
To compare with most people in this industry, the average age of people who at my level is around 35. and Im 25

3. Do you work for a big/famous company?
A: Yes, F500, UK based. No.1 in its own industry, occupies more than 30% market share globally.

4. What are your goals?
A: I am aiming at a Top US MBA to build up some networks and as well learn how to manage the business in US coz I will possibly have an oppotunity to create and develop business for a very  big Chinese company in US 2-3 ys later. Could this be a goal? How should I focus my point and what level of school should I focus?

Thanks again very much

You are welcome my friend. I like the way you put it: cozy and warm! That’s what we try to do! We know its really tough sometimes to get good deep info, and if you feel comfy with the whole process, it will be a LOT easier.

So let’s get down to business: Overall from everything you have written things look very good. You have REAL leadership in a  leading firm, internationally known, and are 10 years!!! Ahead of the average (I LOVE this statistic).

Soo honestly, I think you can apply to any school you want. Make a list of 5-8 you want to apply to, and I have faith in you (as long as you deliver a great application J )…

As for your goals, you will of course need to be more specific. “build networks” and “learn to manage” is not specific enough and doesn't really tell us what you want to do. If you have no preference I suggest to stay in your industry and field, but just become the best in it… So to become regional sales manager for a huge company, and then global sales director and then maybe CEO… but be specific about your industry and the positions you are aiming for. It will make your whole application both easier and clearer. hope this helps my friend and let me know if there s more i could do to help, AAAND goood luck with everything

Sorry Jon I didnt explicitly express my post-mba goal. The fact is that I got an oppotunity to work for a very big Chinese pharmacuetical company to establish its business in US 2 years later. The company has built up an R&D department in US already and is planning to build up commercial department within the next 2-3 years. with my past exp and my family's relationships, the shareholder of the company is really happy to take me in its us branch to develop the business.

So I face a dilema here, that is it is two different industries, however of certain similarities, but the adv is that I can guanrantee a decent job after graduate and the goal is pretty clear- to learn how to do business in US, learn more management skills and build up networks.

Therefore my question is, do you think it is a good idea to let the shools know about the story above, even two different industries seem like little consistency. If yes, what aspect should i focus to avoid the dilemma and emphasize my advantages about this career goal?

Many thanks Jon, wish you a good weekend!

Dee,
Aha! I see. Well I think you are in a position that many would envy. If you go into an MBA application with a goal that your job is to se up an R&D facility in the US for a big Chinese pharmaceutical, and your job is already GURANTEEED then this is a HUGE plus for your application, and you should ABSOLUTELY tell them. One of the most interesting profiles for business schools is candidates who already have good solid guaranteed managerial positions after graduation, because the school knows that candidates like this are almost destined to succeed – so it fulfills their interests of having talented, successful candidates who will have the potential to bring great things to the school as students and in the years after as alumni. So YES! Let them know. And make it seem as impressive and large as you possibly can.
