Howdy, friend! Jon Frank here, happy to help. First of all, let me elaborate on the different career paths of MBAs and MSAs. MBA graduates will have a broader career selection range. If you want to do investment banking or another major capital market job, an MBA is the best way to get there. An MSA is a more specific professional degree in accounting. Most graduates go on to work in accounting firms like the Big Four. Before you apply, I highly recommend you think hard about this and decide which career path is right for you.
Since you are here with an MSA question, I’ll focus on that right now. To be honest, you have a very impressive GPA and a good amount of work experience. The next thing for you to focus on is the GMAT. Take some time to prepare, and shoot for a high score. Given your background, I’d say you have the potential for schools like UT-Austin, UIUC, or BYU. In order to be competitive, you want to aim for a GMAT score of 700 or higher. Also, your essay will be very important, since the admissions committee will be looking for you to elaborate on your future goals and career plans.
