93.Unfortunately,in contemporary society, creating an appealing image has become more importantthan the reality or truth behind that image. write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. ......
In the issue above, the author provide us astatement that, it is an unfortunate phenomenon that the reality or truthbehind an image is outweighed by its appealing external. Though it is quiteunderstandable that an attracting exterior have some effects on the people’s acceptanceof its truth and reality, we should first guarantee that what behind the imageis assured to be real and trustable. Admittedly, as people rely more and more onthe good looking of a product to judge its quality, vivid advertisements andattracting packaging, as a way to appeal customers, are popular strategies inmarketing. For an appealing image can somewhat help people to understand what theimage really mean. For example, when choosing milk in a supermarket, differentimages on the package indicate different groups of people they are aiming at: ayoung lady refers to women’s choice, and the kind with a student means that it containsthe nutrition especially for those who are studying in the school. However, in most cases nowadays, thereality behind the appealing image is not as trustable as it claims. Therefore,a large amount of people have been cheated on its appearance. TV shopping is atypical example. Mostly, the moment we received our goods bought through thisway, we become disappointed since they are far more inferior to what it seemslike on TV. And once on the national news, such events were reported after asurvey conducted by a Customer’s Association which presents that oversixty-four percentage of the informants had ever experienced such unpleasantincident at least once. Thus, when the product is not worthy of its over-adornedimage, the society will be less trusted in the moral. Finally, the attracting appearance togetherwith the reality and truth of an image are both important factors for a personto fully understand and evaluate a certain product. For instance, women choose Olayor L’Oreal not based on the appealing advertisements but also its true effecton protecting their faces and preventing them from cutis laxa fast. Ignoring any of thetwo factors cannot make them such a salable one. To sum up, when the image is built on thebasis of both reality and truth, the appealing appearance, aimed to help betterunderstand that image, is of importance to some extent. But, considering thatthe reality and truth is the only intrinsic characteristic, no image, no matterhow appealing it is, can act more important. |
