6月3日 独立写作100619NA If you need to discuss upsetting or controversial problemswith others, you will use e-mail or text messaging, OR use the telephone orvoice-messaging.
Along with the development of technology, many modern formsof communication like phone calls, emails, and letters are extremely convenient. When I need to talk about a problem that might be upsetting or controversial, Iprefer to use e-mails or text messaging to express myself. I have three reasonsfor this preference.
To begin with, when we write, we can better control the flowof our ideas, explain complex issues patiently, and convey our feelingexplicitly and accurately. For example, my friends Carl and Julie, they are acouple. Every time they have an argument, they always stop the quarrel andwrite an email to each other to explain why they are angry and what they feel. Afterthey write the email and read the response, they become reconciled. Wittingemails or text message can make people understood.
In addition, writing emails or text message can be the bestway to avoid conflict and misunderstanding. When people talk about upsettingand controversial issues, it is quite probable that it leads to an argument withoutproperly control, which makes things worse. Solving problems by exchangingopinions and ideas through written words can prevent conflicts from happening. For instance, one of my neighbors once dropped a note to me saying that mybicycle shouldn’t be parked in front of the driveway. The note was contained ina very lovely envelope, which was so sweet that I could not say no to hisrequest, although it is a shared driveway and I have the right to park my bikethere.
Last but not least, the written words could be evidence thatwe can refer to later. On the contrary, with the oral communication, we couldn’tprove how the things really happened. Last week, I bought a pair of shoes online, but the store sent me the shoes in wrong size. I wrote an email to thecustomer service and explain this issue; however, the customer service specialistrejected to change a new pair of shoes in right size for me. Then, I forwardedthe original emails to her supervisor, and the supervisor finally apologizedfor their fault and changed a new pair of shoes for me.
To sum up, faced with troublesome problems, I prefer to use writtenexpression, such as emails and text message. In this way, I could explain myideas more explicitly, control my emotions, and leave some records to refer to. |
