4月30日110805 NA If a friend of yours has problems in learning a certain subject, and you happen to be very good at it. Do you think that your friend should ask help from you or from a professional tutor?

Recently, a research about the link between students' learning behaviors and their performance was conducted by the scientists from Germany. One of the suvey results, which indicates that the better a student performs the more help s/he gets from tutours, has intrigued researchers. However, some people pointed out that if a student got the help from her or his friend rather than the tutor, s/he will performace much better. If asked me, I think it's wise for my friend to choose a professional teacher. I will give my reasons in the following paragraphs.

To begin with, even though I am good at a certain subject, the professional tutors will be more experenced than me. You know I am a student and only better at some subjects than other students, which doesn't mean I know the sbujects very well or I can  guide others to study. Unlike me, the professional tutors have been not only studying the subjects intensely but also digging into ways to attract others to learn for so many years. They can introduce the important points and essences of the subject with the most comprehensible way. My friend Lily is a good instance. She always got a low grade on Math which I was good at. In order to make her improve in Math, we usually learned and discussed Math together, but it didn't work out. Many times it's hard for me to express the essences or key points which are conductive to solve math problems. So Lily only learned the steps to solve certain Math problems rather than the thoughts of Math and then also performanced bad at Math. Eventually, she had to turn to our Math tutor, Mr.Goldman. Now, Lily is one of the best students in Math in our class. From then on, I always suggest surrounding people to get help from teachers rather than friends.

Secondly, the help from tutors will make you have more motives and sometimes even pressures to learn. Mostly the reason why we cannot be good at some certain subjects is the lack of effort. But if you think the tutot has put an eye on you, you will be more dilligent than before. You can image that you have turned to a tutor for help and then the tutor has spent much time and energy on you, but even so you still don't have any improvement, what will you and the tutor feel then? It's clear that the tutor will feel disappointed more or less and you will feel nothing but guilty. So in order to prevent this happening, you will be more hardworking. While the help from friends won't drive you to do so, because you two are good friends and always help each other. And your friend will always be ready to help you, even though you don't have any improvement. Considering this point, I always send my friend to a tutor to get help.

In one word, although there so many reasons have a friend's help will be more better, but taking accont of the two key factors above I think a professional tutor is much better than me to help my friend learn.
