The story is about a boy who built his own arcade out of cardboard and started his own little business from scratch. Just in 4 days, his college foundation fund has reached $140K. Amazing.

Believe in yourself. Work on something you LOVE. Wait for the right moment to shine!

Further, the neighborhood of Caine is in LA, a city in which the tragedy of two Chinese graduates just happened. Caine's story shows that there are guninely good people around us, there are helping hands everywhere, and together we can build a village or make a kid realize his dream! I wish USC and other universities can take the same approach and build bonds with the neighborhood surrounding them, integrate the neighborhood with the college community, put a human touch to everyone's life, and enable both a student and a homeless man to realize his/her dream.

Wow~ Such a lovely story! Thanks for sharing, sdcar guru.

I especially like your idea regarding what we - as a group of students - can do to foster a social climate with love, sympathy , and morality. This reminds me of a study saying that cherubic stuffs (childhood clues) can make adults behave more morally and ethically.

Hi BabyMM,

Thank you for the comment. I love the link you provided. We are not living in a vacuum. Interacting with the environment we are in is an integral part of life, personal or professional. As such, we need to be aware of the mutural impact between us and the environment, be it your neighborhood, your social circle, or the air you breathe. As most of us have agreed to limit our carbon footprint, it is vital that we leave a positive influence on our imediate community. A helping hand and mutural benefit of a strong community is much better than an indifferent attitude and disenfranchised street corner. This online community of CDers is also changing the lives of many CDers, good or bad. And a cherubic member like you definitely makes it a better, more civilized place!

I burst into laughter when reading the bold face part. Can I construe it as "ruling out the alternative effect"? I see logic everywhere in your writing

I use every opportunity to sharpen my skills as you have rightfully pointed out.

Nice dialogue. I really should copy-paste these paragraphs.

What CD can provide or strengthen is not only knowledge sharing, but also determined mind and positive life attitude. What account finally I believe is the legacy we leave. Thank you, both.
