Dear Selected Applicants,
Thank you for applying to the GW Master of Accountancy program. I apologize that it has taken so long to give you an answer; we received an extraordinarily large number of applications, many more than we expected.
The applications we received were competitive, and we have limited places available, therefore, although your application was indeed impressive, I am sorry we are not able to offer you admission for fall 2012. However, let me how you might enroll at GW in January and graduate with a GW Master of Accountancy degree in May 2014.
On March 29, GW signed a contract with Renmin University's International College (Renmin-IC) to create an International Master of Accountancy program. It is a two-year program, with the fall 2012 semester taught at Renmin-IC's campus in Suzhou, China. The remainder of the program, from January 2013 to May 2014, is taught at GW. The GW part of the program is 34.5 credit hours and gives students an opportunity to qualify to take the US CPA examination. At the end of the program, students receive an Accountancy Certificate from Renmin-IC and a Master of Accountancy degree from GW.
We are very excited about this program and believe it offers students an excellent preparation for the U.S. CPA exam as well as a successful career in accounting in China. Please let me know whether you would like to be considered. If so, we will use your existing application to make an admission decision very quickly. I do encourage you to act soon, however, because we must limit the program to fifty students. For more information about the new program, please see the fact sheet at the bottom of this letter.
Thank you again for your interest in GW. I hope to hear from you soon!
Best wishes,
Leo Moersen, J.D., CPA Director, GW Master of Accountancy Programs Associate Professor of Accountancy and Business Law |
