题目：Colleges and universities should require their students to spend at least on semester studying in a foreign country.
 
  As all the societies around the world are intertwined, while many people advance that it is necessary for colleges and universities to require their students to spend at least one semester studying in a foreign country, others are reject to this proposal. As far as I am concerned, I do not agree with such proposal. I concede that studying abroad is beneficial, however, it is not incumbent upon every student to do so.
   
Admittedly, studying abroad can certainly bring about a lot of advantages. Considering in its narrow, academic sense, education is defined as the formal process by which the society deliberately transmit the accumulated knowledge and skills from one generation the another. That’s the key word, “accumulated”. Given that the potency of education provided by any college or university is limited, studying in a more advanced country can surly bring about many novel perspectives, not only from the peerless faculties, the advanced teaching method, but the sophisticated equipment as well. According to a recent survey, for a higher education, nearly twenty percent families in China prefer to send their children abroad, in America, British and Australia and so forth.
 
 Moreover, when considering in its broadest, general sense, education is the means through which human aims and habits live on from one generation to the next, including but not confined to the knowledge studying. Given this, we can safely conclude that studying abroad can broaden one’s horizon in many aspects which are inconceivable in his mother country. For instance, the Chinese students who studied in America will occur to Thanksgiving Day, which is beneficial for them to develop the sense of requiting others.
   
While on the other hand, requiring student to study in a foreign country may bring about some side effects. To begin with, studying abroad has been proved to a giant project that would cost voluminous money, which is unthinkable for the penury. What’s more, students who are about to study abroad are required in the ability communicating with foreigners smoothly, while many students have difficulties in studying such foreign language. Last but not the least, it is quite possible that the luxuries and conveniences in developed countries will make students backward.
   
However, there still exists some ways for colleges and universities to fulfill their purposes. Firstly, they can invite some famous professors from developed countries to give lectures in campus, which turns out to be a much more economical and effective approach. Secondly, colleges and universities can import some notable foreign language references, which can stimulate the activities of students to study.
 
 Overall, students whose family can afford to study abroad may volunteer to do so, while other students can learn the advanced perspectives through the ways I just mentioned above. And, what deserves our attention is that the attitude how we treat it.
